در ایالت داکوتای شمالی معروف به سرزمین باغ صلح حدود ۷۶۰‌هزار نفر زندگی می‌کنند و از این حیث چهارمین ایالت کم‌جمعیت در ایالات متحده است. اقتصاد داکوتای شمالی مبتنی بر فناوری های جدید حفاری مانند fracking است و رونق نفتی آن هم چشم‌انداز و هم جمعیت را تغییر داده است. در در ادامه نگاهی به چشم اندازهای داکوتای شمالی و برخی از گونه‌های حیات وحش و مردمانی که این ایالت را خانه خود می‌دانند آمده است.
